Project Client –  Leading Multinational Banking and Insurance Firm

Environment –Java/J2EE, IBM Web Sphere 6.1 and Oracle 10g DB Server.

Description

ISS is a web-based application developed for providing the solutions and services to the Insurance Companies. It has 3 modules namely investor, agent and insurance provider.

Investor is the one who invests money on mutual fund schemes, provided by any insurance company based on the current transaction pricing and NAV price declared for the day. Investor has the facility to re invest the money into other schemes or an investor can pay out the money to his account, Investor has the facility to opt for a loan and invest the money on the schemes, and will be eligible for the dividend declarations and profit only after clearing the loan.

All the investors has to do investments through the agents, all the agents will be allotted a direct commission based on the number of investors, schemes and number of transactions.

Insurance companies declares the schemes, number of units, maximum and minimum number of units for allotment of units for each investor, dividend declaration will also be done the Insurance companies based on the profits and investor options.

All the activities will be processed by the EOD process, which protects and updates all the data on the DB server.

Client Requirements – Client has to define the number of concurrent users using the application on the below mentioned environments.

HW – 4GB RAM, Dual Processor, 64 Kbps Bandwidth
HW – 4GB RAM, Dual Processor, 128 Kbps Bandwidth

Solution by Mahaveer – Mahaveer team has simulated the above mentioned environments at clients place, run the different types of workloads and identified the number of users that can be simulated with the response times, and also fine tuned the DB Server and Application Server.

Roles
Identifying the Performance scenarios, setting up the test environment, deployment of application and sanity check.
Creating the test scripts, parameterization and error handling.
Identify the baseline and define the benchmark for the application for the defined number of users.
Running the different types of work loads and monitor the DB server and the client machines.
